Epoxy Over Rough Concrete Floor

Recommended Epoxy Installation Procedure

Epoxy Installation over Very Rough Concrete Floors

  1. Proper surface preparation is imperative to a successful installation of any epoxy.
    1. If the floor is excessively rough, in addition to proper surface prep above, it should be ground as flat as you can reasonably make it.
  2. Repair random cracks with Epoxy.com Product #684LV.
  3. Fill sawcut joint with Epoxy.com Product #11.
  4. Potholes
    1. Remove loose existing cementitious patching material if not already done in step 1.
    2. Prime with a neat (no sand added) blend of Epoxy.com Product #12 (mixed 2 Parts A to 1 Part B).
    3. Mix blended Epoxy.com Product #12 with Epoxy.com Mortar Blend Aggregate or other suitable silica sand blend to fill the potholes.
  5. Low Spots. Fill any low spots more than 1/16-inch-thick with the same method done in #4 (potholes) above.
  6. Do a final smoothing of the work done in steps 2-4 above to make the floor as flat as possible.
  7. Prime entire floor with Epoxy.com Product #12 (neat). Allow to cure overnight or until hard to the touch. Do not allow more than 24 hours between this and the next step.
  8. Trowel a blend of Epoxy.com Product #12 and Epoxy.com Self Leveling filler to an average thickness of 1/16 or less.
  9. Topcoat with 2 coats of Epoxy.com Coating. Do not allow more than 24 hours between the coats before or after this. Depending on the chemical resistance needed one of the following are preferred:
    1. Epoxy.com Product #1
    2. Epoxy.com Product #2
    3. Epoxy.com Product #633
