Epoxy.com Product #407
Aliphatic Traffic Bearing Membrane
DESCRIPTION:
Epoxy.com Product #407 Aliphatic Traffic Bearing Membrane
is a two component, ultra high solids aliphatic polyurethane
elastomeric membrane. Epoxy.com Product #407, when
applied, is resilient and accommodates movement in concrete
substrates. Epoxy.com Product #407 is used as a top coat
traffic bearing membrane or non-skid coating that retains color
and physical properties when exposed to harsh UV conditions.
Epoxy.com Product #407
is used as a system with Epoxy.com Product #882, and may be
applied as the top coat on Epoxy.com Product #409
to
maximize cost effectiveness. Epoxy.com Product #407 cures
at ambient temperatures and is impermeable to moisture, oils,
mild acids, gasoline, and alkalies.
ADVANTAGES:
- Preweighed units
- Used for UV stability on Epoxy.com Product #409 and
other membranes
- Ultra high solids content
- Protects concrete surfaces from deterioration caused by
water intrusion and wet/dry or freeze/thaw cycles.
- Exhibits excellent shear and tear strength.
- Will withstand temperature extremes from -20°F to 180°F.
- Cold applied

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Steel: Prepare in accordance with SSPC-SP6 (Commercial
Blast) or SSPC-SP10 Near White Metal Blast. All work blasted
should be coated the same day. Apply Epoxy.com Product #1200
Zinc Rich Primer to prepared steel. Follow application
guildelines on Product #1200 technical data sheet. Allow
Product #1200 to cure a minimum of four (4) hours at 70°F and
not to exceed a maximum of 48 hours at 70° F prior to
application of Epoxy.com Product #407.
Concrete: All concrete must be cured a minimum of 28
days. All concrete must be clean, sound, dry, free of oils and
other bond inhibiting contaminants. Air and substrate
temperature shall be 40°F and rising. Mechanical surface
preparation such as shot blasting, abrasive blasting or hydro
blasting is required to produce a clean and lightly profiled or
textured surface. If hydro blasting is used, allow 24 to 48
hours for concrete to dry completely. Apply
Product #882 to prepared concrete. Allow Product #882 to dry
a minimum of two (2) hours at 70°F and not to exceed a maximum
of 36 hours at 70°F prior to application of Epoxy.com Product
#407.
MIXING:
Stir "A" component prior to mixing or combining with "B"
component. Mix material to the proper ratio, 4A to 1B with a
mixing paddle and slow speed drill for a minimum of two (2)
minutes until thoroughly mixed. Avoid entrapping air while
mixing.
APPLICATION:
Primer - After mixing Product #882 Primer apply by
brush, roll, or airless spray at 3.0 to 4.0 mils WFT to achieve
3.0 to 4.0 mils DFT. While
Product #882 Primer is still wet lightly seed with rounded
16 / 30 silica sand. Allow to dry a minimum of two (2) to four
(4) hours at 70°F or until tack free prior to application of
Epoxy.com Product #409 or Epoxy.com Product #407
Intermediate Coat.
Intermediate - After mixing apply Epoxy.com Product
#409 or Epoxy.com Product #407 by straight or notched
squeegee at appropriate WFT to either pedestrian or traffic
grade application to achieve the appropriate DFT for the
application. After the squeegee application, back roll with a
1/2 inch to 3/4 inch nap roller cover. Follow this procedure
with a spiked roller cover to insure no air bubbles are present.
Broadcast the rounded 20/40 silica sand at a rate of 1/4 to 1/2
pound per square foot. Allow the Epoxy.com Product #409
or Epoxy.com Product #407 Intermediate Coat to dry
approximately 8 hours prior to application of finish coat.
Finish - After mixing apply top coat of Epoxy.com
Product #407 by straight or notched squeegee at appropriate
WFT for either pedestrian or traffic grade application to
achieve the appropriate DFT for the application. After the
squeegee application back roll with a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch nap
roller cover. Follow this procedure with a spiked roller cover
to insure no air bubbles are present. Allow the Epoxy.com
Product #407 Finish Coat to dry a minimum of 6 hours at 70°F
for foot traffic and a minimum of 24 hours at 70° F for
vehicular traffic.
LIMITATIONS:
Thinning may result in loss of adhesion of cured materials and
promote rapid deterioration of protective properties. Do not
apply either Epoxy.com Product # 882 Primer,
Epoxy.com Product #409 or Epoxy.com Product #407
on wet surfaces or below 40°F. Product #409 is not UV Resistant.
Epoxy.com Product #407 should be used as a top coat if UV
Resistance is required.
PACKAGING:
Epoxy.com Product # 882 - available in 2 gallon and 10
gallon units.
Epoxy.com Product #407 - available in 1 gallon and 5
gallon units.
STORAGE:
Product #844 and Epoxy.com Product #407 shall be
stored in a dry protected area at temperatures between 60°F and
90°F. Do not allow to freeze.
CAUTION:
Epoxy.com Product #407 contains organic isocyanates.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not ingest. Keep away from
