SURFACE PREPARATION:

Substrate must be sound, fully cured, clean and free of oil, SURFACE PREPARATION:

Substrate must be sound, fully cured, clean and free of oil, coating, dust and/or other foreign matter that may act as a bond breaker.  Remove all broken pieces, weak, and/or loose material.  Use mechanical methods of surface preparation such as abrasive blasting, shotblasting, or hydroblasting to obtain adequate surface preparation. Profile surface must be a minimum of CSP5 in accordance with ICRI No. 03732.

APPLICATION: Dilute Epoxy.com Product # 825 Primer 1:1 with potable water. Apply a thin film of diluted primer to the properly prepared substrate using a push broom. One gallon of diluted Primer will cover approximately 250-300 sf. Do not allow to puddle. PRIMER must be tacky before the application of Product #1009. If the concrete is very porous 2 coats of primer may be needed.

Mixing: Add to potable water to EPOXY.COM PRODUCT #1009 at a rate of 4 qts (3.8L) to a 50 lb bag of EPOXY.COM PRODUCT #1009. Always add the Product #1009 to the water, not the water to the EPOXY.COM PRODUCT #1009. Use normal mechanical mixers appropriate for mixing concrete with coarse aggregate. Mix EPOXY.COM PRODUCT #1009 with measured water for 3-5 minutes.

Placing: Pour the product over the prepared substrate or pump it through a suitable pump to the desired thickness.  The minimum thickness is ¼ inch. EPOXY.COM PRODUCT #1009 will seek its own level in approximately 15 minutes at 75°F (23°C). For hard to reach areas and touch up use a spreader or come-along. For thick pours EPOXY.COM PRODUCT #1009 may be extended by adding 25 lbs (11.3KG)of clean 3/8 (6mm) inch gravel. Adding Aggregate will impede the flow.  A small amount of water can be added to help this, but do not exceed an addition ¼ qt of additional water when adding gravel. Leave gravel extended material ¼ inch low, allow to cure for 24 hours, then recap with a non-gravel filled cap.

Note: To avoid reflective cracking always cut or form joints in topping directly over the joints and/cracks in the substrate.

Cleanup: Clean tools and application equipment immediately after use with water before the Epoxy.com Product #1009 Hardens. Remove hardened Epoxy.com Product #1009 with abrasive cleaning.

Curing: Keep moist for three days in conditions of high Temperatures (>85°F), high wind or low humidity.  Protect from direct sunlight in high temperature environments. Do NOT use solvent base curing compounds.  To seal use an appropriate sealing compound like Epoxy.com Product #223 – www.epoxy.com/223.htm.

For Best results:

  • Precondition these materials to approximately 70Degrees F (21C) for 24 hours before using.
  • Conduct a 10 by 10 ft test application to become familiar with the product characteristics and to verify the ultimate appearance.
  • Do not apply over fresh, plastic concrete.
  • To ensure proper bond apply primer to mechanically prepared substrate before applying.
  • Do not over water. Do not use in continuously wet or moist environments.
  • Proper application is the responsibility of the user.
  • Recommendations by Epoxy.com personnel are just that, recommendations only.
  • Final field verification of the suitability of the product is the responsibility of the consumer.
